Congratulations to CANEGROWERS who will celebrate 100 years of advocacy for cane-growing families in 2026.
Founded in 1926, CANEGROWERS has spent a century representing growers and steering the industry through enormous change. Over that time, the organisation has helped guide cane farming from the early days of back-breaking manual labour and hand-cut harvesting, through mechanisation and modernisation, and into an era shaped by deregulation, global competition and complex international trade policy.
CANEGROWERS Chairman Owen Menkens said sugarcane had played a defining role in shaping Queensland’s economy, identity and regional landscape.
